Menlo Park, CA (PRWEB) September 14, 2009 — SteelEye (steeleye.com), a leading provider of business continuity and disaster recovery solutions for multi-vendor IT infrastructures, today announced the SteelEye Serviceguard Program to help users of HP Serviceguard for Linux migrate seamlessly to LifeKeeper for Linux, a high availability clustering solution on Linux. Lifekeeper for Linux offers commercial-grade protection of critical business applications and database workloads including SAP, Oracle, MySQL, Postgres and IBM Websphere MQ, among others.
The SteelEye Serviceguard Program offers discounted licenses of SteelEye products to existing Serviceguard for Linux and migrating Serviceguard for HP-UX customers, along with access to SteelEye’s decade-long experience in helping customers deploy mission critical applications on Linux. SteelEye and HP have partnered for a number of years to ensure that LifeKeeper is optimized for HP ProLiant x86 servers by testing compatibility of SteelEye LifeKeeper for Linux with HP ProLiant servers and HP EVA and MSA storage arrays.
With HP’s recently announced discontinuation of future sales of Serviceguard for Linux, current users of that product now have the option of replacing HP Serviceguard for Linux with SteelEye LifeKeeper clustering software. In addition, users who decide to migrate from HP Serviceguard for HP-UX, a product that HP will continue to sell, can also adopt LifeKeeper as their clustering platform. In addition, SteelEye LifeKeeper for Linux offers a reliable solution for enterprises that require robust application monitoring and data replication, including support for multi-site geographic clusters, a feature that was not available in HP Serviceguard for Linux. By supporting nearly 30 types of applications, SteelEye offers market-leading flexibility to support the widest range of storage configurations for Linux customers, including HP MSA and EVA storage arrays.
“SteelEye is supporting customer choice by offering an alternative Linux high availability solution and support for many Linux distributions,” said Greg Ewald, vice president of marketing for SteelEye. “Having worked together with HP for many years to ensure that LifeKeeper for Linux provides full support for HP servers and storage, the new SteelEye Serviceguard Program offers enterprises and SMBs an easy transition to comprehensive high availability with an outstanding alternative to HP Serviceguard for Linux,” said Ewald. “In fact, users will come to appreciate the same, if not increased, level of availability and a host of additional value-add features, which come with LifeKeeper for Linux.”
With LifeKeeper support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Novell SLES, Oracle Unbreakable Linux and CentOS Linux, any enterprise running Linux applications and databases can achieve reliable, continuous high availability for the Linux workloads. Minimal customization is required to install LifeKeeper for Linux, resulting in a quick deployment of field-proven product installed worldwide on thousands of HP server platforms.
“The Linux server market is known for its support of multiple options for customers, including choice of hardware platform and choice of software stack,” said Jean S. Bozman, Research Vice President, IDC’s Enterprise Platforms Group. “This new program from SteelEye is in keeping with that approach to Linux and open-source computing, with a wide array of products, including high availability software solutions for enterprise Linux deployments, on offer.”
SteelEye LifeKeeper for Linux offers the following features:
SteelEye Data Replication, is a host-based replication solution that integrates with SteelEye LifeKeeper for Linux to deliver a comprehensive LAN or WAN disaster recovery solution.
